Job Summary

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for a full-time, non-tenured Visiting Assistant Professor in Archaeology.

In accordance with USCIS regulations, successful applicants must be legally able to accept work in the United States. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Candidates are expected to teach both introductory and upper division undergraduate archaeology courses, including a spring course in archaeological theory. All areas of specialization will be considered, except Old World Classical Archaeology. An archaeological summer field school within North America is highly desirable and could be counted as one course. 

Required qualifications

Candidates should have a PhD in hand by September 2023 or be ABD and have demonstrated pedagogical skill and experience.

Preferred Qualifications  

Experience teaching introductory and advanced undergraduate archaeology courses that would appeal to undergraduate UTA students

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology is a joint program department in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Texas at Arlington. The department houses distinguished award-winning faculty with diverse research and teaching interests that range from investigating our earliest human ancestors to contemporary societal issues. Utilizing broad and innovative teaching strategies, we offer a B.A. in Sociology, a B.S. in Applied Sociology, a B.A. in Anthropology, minors in Sociology, Anthropology, and Popular Culture, and an M.A. in Sociology.
