Pursuant to an agreement with the City of New Orleans, the UNO Department of Anthropology and Sociology seeks to hire a Archaeological Research Associate for the UNO/CNO Joint Infrastructure Recovery Request (JIRR) program. This is a full-time post-doctoral position with benefits, expected to last for two years.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A PhD in Anthropology, with a specialization in historical and/or urban archaeology
- Prior experience with Section 106 of the NHPA, NEPA, and other federal laws, and familiarity with planning and compliance documents produced as a result of these laws
- Prior experience with urban archaeology in New Orleans
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A specialized analytical focus that is complementary to existing project personnel, with zooarchaeology or paleoethnobotany preferred
- Experience with ArcGIS, database development and management, and coordination with SHPOs/THPOs preferred.
This is a 100% research-based position, reporting directly to the Principal Investigator, with a timeline for specific deliverables. This position will supervise student workers in the lab on an as needed basis.
