Project Archaeologist
Nienow Cultural Consultants LLC (NCC) is seeking qualified candidates to join our team as a historical archaeology focused Project Archaeologist. NCC was established in 2014 and is Minnesota focused, with offices in downtown St. Paul. Project Archaeologist positions are full-time, salaried positions.
NCC is a full-service CRM archaeology consulting company led by Jeremy L. Nienow, Ph.D., RPA, who has 30 years of experience in the CRM field throughout the Upper Midwest and Mid-Atlantic. We routinely work for public and private clients on a full range of projects from literature reviews and initial survey to evaluation and mitigation projects. NCC is currently looking for a qualified historical archaeologist with a solid understanding of 19th and 20th century industrial (mining, milling, etc.) and settlement (rural and urban development) contexts within Minnesota or the Upper Midwest.
Employment Type: Salaried, Full-Time, $50,000 to $63,000, depending on experience level.

Job Description and Responsibilities:
Project Archaeologist position is typically under the direction of a Principal Investigator (PI). However, depending upon experience they can and do lead at the PI level. Work will involve participation in the planning and performance of archaeological field projects.
Responsibilities include conducting pre-field research, mobilizing field projects, providing supervision to field technicians, overseeing archaeological field projects, completing artifact analysis, authoring or co-authoring written reports, and completing site forms.
Project types may include monitoring, survey, evaluation, and mitigation projects, including projects which may require stays away from home (typically within Minnesota only).
Desired Qualifications:
o A graduate degree in Anthropology/Archaeology or a closely related field;
o Qualification under the Secretary of the Interior Standards (48 FR 44716) in archaeology, with a specialization in historical/industrial archaeology;
o RPA, or eligible for RPA;
o Ability to work in a variety of field conditions and navigate efficiently in remote areas;
o Proven ability to see projects through from initiation to completion.
