GIS Specialist

Brockington and Associates is seeking a GIS Specialist based in our Mt. Pleasant, SC office. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in geography, GIS, computer information science, anthropology, archaeology, cultural resource management, or similar field of study.

The ideal candidate should be proficient in ArcGIS software including ArcMap, Arc Catalog, and Arc Toolbox. You should have the ability to manage, analyze, process, project, convert, and display geospatial data (both raster and vector) in various formats. You must have extensive knowledge of cartographic principles dealing with projections, scales, map layouts, and composition. We expect you to have computer skills with proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access. You must be able to work well within a team environment with diverse personalities and disciplines. We prefer candidates with knowledge of cultural resources concepts and terminology, GPS, LiDAR, ArcGIS Online, basic programing, and data modeling.

The GIS Specialist will be a part of a team that supports production of reports and other project deliverables. Tasks associated with this position may include: maintenance and creation of GIS data and associated attribute databases, spatial analysis, development of custom applications, and user support to clients and other staff members such as engineers, biologists, historians, architectural historians, archaeologists, preservation planners and land managers. This position is highly technical in nature and requires a candidate with existing knowledge and skills to perform tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment with attention to quality and adherence to program standards. We anticipate this will be primarily a support position, but we also welcome candidates with interest and experience in project management.
