Assistant Professor of Biological Anthropology (Bioarchaeology)
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at North Carolina State University is accepting applications for an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in Biological Anthropology with expertise in bioarchaeology to begin Fall 2024. The faculty hired will contribute to the Anthropology graduate and undergraduate programs and should complement existing faculty research. The standard teaching load is two courses per semester. Teaching responsibilities will include an undergraduate introduction to biological anthropology course and advanced undergraduate and graduate courses in human osteology, bioarchaeology, and courses developed in the candidate's own speciality.
Qualifications include a Ph.D. in anthropology or related field by the start date, a strong record of research and publications that demonstrates potential for extramural funding, demonstrable skills in theory and/or quantitative research methods, and a clear commitment to excellence in teaching and graduate student mentorship. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute, through their experience, research, teaching, and service, to the excellence of the academic community, and who can demonstrate an ability to foster a welcoming environment and work with underrepresented students.
