Gray & Pape, a national and international cultural heritage management (CRM) firm, is seeking a Architectural Historian II to join our History/Architecture practice in our Cincinnati, OH office. This role is an hourly, non-exempt position with a rate of $22.00-$25.00 depending on skills, experience, and qualifications.
Summary of the Role:
The Architectural Historian II is responsible for the completion and management of documentation and assessment of projects, the transmission of data (notes, photocopies, maps, photographs) to others, conducting historical research and narrative writing for compliance reports, and completion of National Register nomination forms and tax credit applications.
Key Duties:
• Timely implementation and cost-effective conception, implementation, and completion of projects.
• Develop project specific budgets, personnel assignments, and project schedules.
• Develop research goals, field plans, work products (including reports), and resource-specific recommendations.
• Complete multiple projects simultaneously.
• Use professional expertise in the management of cultural resources following company and professional standards. Provide preliminary recommendations using the National Register of Historic Places Criteria.
• Participate in public outreach programs to educate the public on the importance of history architecture resources and Heritage Management at the project, professional, and/or community level.
• Assist senior management identify market sectors and prepare proposals.
• Maintain a commitment to promoting equity and inclusion.
Minimum Qualifications:
• M.A./M.S. in History, Historic Preservation, Architectural History, or closely related field, plus three years CRM and demonstrable report writing experience. 1-2 supervisory experience preferred.
• Good understanding of the application of National Register of Historic Places Criteria and the Section 106 process.
• Demonstrated skills in historical research and architectural description using photography (35mm and perspective-correcting camera equipment), electronic and measured drawing and traditional and digital mapping skills.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and ability to operate a passenger car/light truck.
Travel is required, project-dependent, and with an expectation of travel outside the local area and for multiple days. Some projects may require extended travel.
