AHS seeks an experienced professional Archaeologist to fill current openings for the position of Archaeologist II. Since 1980, Archaeological and Historical Services (AHS) has provided cultural resources management services for all aspects of project planning and development. AHS is a grant/contract research program at Eastern Washington University that specializes in aiding private, city, county, state, and federal clients in meeting local, state, and federal compliance requirements pertaining to the inventory, protection, and enhancement of archaeological and historical resources in the Northwestern United States.

In addition to project findings reports, our professional staff contribute to historic preservation and archaeological research through the publication of findings in research journals and presentations at regional and national conferences. The position has the responsibility to implement cultural resources projects to lead projects and crews and to prepare reports of findings. Archaeologists also prepare proposals, responds to client needs and the media to meeting project goals.

Screening of applications will begin during November 2017. Positions are budgeted for one year from date of hire; eligible for renewals depending on continuing need and continuing availability of grant/contract funding. Conditions of Employment

Position is 100% grant/contract funded. Continuation of the position is dependent on continuation of grants/contracts.

Physical Demands

Field work involving working outside, walking over uneven ground, working in variable weather conditions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master\'s degree in anthropology or related field in hand by January 2018.
    •Ability to complete essential functions as demonstrated through years of experience.
    •Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal accessibility, of our students, faculty, staff and the public.

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Preferred candidate will have regional experience
    •Two years full-time professional experience
