Senior Principal Investigator – Architectural Historian Providence, RI
Gray & Pape, a national cultural resources management (CRM) firm, is seeking a Senior Principal Investigator – Architectural Historian to join our Providence, RI office. The position is as a full-time, regular status, exempt employee with an expected salary range of $75,000–$110,000 based on experience and qualifications.
Summary of the Position
The Senior Principal Investigator-Architectural Historian is responsible for managing all aspects of architectural projects within municipal, state, and federal compliance contexts. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting and supervising research, fieldwork, work product preparation, and client coordination for a wide range of project types including historic property determinations of eligibility and recordation (e.g., HABS, National Register nominations), historic property management plans, and Section 106 consultations (e.g., stakeholder engagement and agreement document preparation). The Senior Principal Investigator-Architectural Historian also will be responsible for mentoring and managing junior project staff and assisting the History/Architecture Practice Leader and regional managers with business development.
Required Qualifications
• MA/MS, Architectural History
• Meets Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification standards
• 10+ years of experience managing architectural projects
• Experience developing scopes and managing budgets for complex projects with multiple staff
• Experience providing Section 106 consultation support and authoring agreement documents
• Working knowledge of GIS/GPS data collection, management, and analysis
• Demonstrated success in managing projects valued at more than $50,000
• Demonstrated success at managing concurrent projects within prescribed time and budget constraints
• Excellent internal (staff) and external (clients) oral and written communication skills
• Valid U.S. driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
• Professional experience with documentation standards and project review in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions
Travel
Travel is project-dependent with an expectation of travel outside the local area and for multiple days. Some projects may require extended travel.
