Assistant Professor Anthropological Archaeology

Summary of Job Duties: The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock is seeking applications for a full-time, nine-month tenure-track position in Anthropological Archaeology at the Assistant Professor level beginning August 2022. We seek broadly trained, highly qualified candidates a with research focus on Archaeology, geographic, temporal, and methodological specialization open, and who have a commitment to excellence in both teaching and research.
UA Little Rock is a doctoral intensive metropolitan university serving a diverse student body of approximately 10,000 full- and part-time students. The Anthropology Program serves approximately 40 active majors and is home to the Anthropological Research Laboratories, which includes an archeology lab space and the Human Variation Lab. Qualifications:
Required Education and/or Experience:
- Ph.D. in Anthropology or a comparable field with a specialization in Archaeology by the time of hire.
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
- Experience in, or potential for, collaboration in research and/or pedagogy with History or Interdisciplinary programs;
- Experience teaching Archaeology and Cultural Anthropology courses at the undergraduate level;
- Experience teaching online and integrating technology in teaching;
- Experience working with diverse populations of learners.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach courses in Anthropology (B.A.) Bachelors of Arts program including introductory Archaeology and Cultural Anthropology and upper-level courses in the candidate’s area of expertise and/or courses that incorporate both archaeological and cultural anthropological perspectives;
- Support experiential learning and student research through field schools, mentorship, or other forms of collaboration;
- Engage in research and scholarship activities;
- Advise students in their major;
- Participate in service activities in the program, college, university, and the Little Rock community.

- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate;
- Ability to demonstrate potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching and advising;
- Willingness to involve undergraduates in research projects.
Salary Information: $55,000
