Historical Research Associates, Inc. (HRA), has an opening for one Research Archaeologist/GIS Specialist in our Seattle Office. The qualified candidate must have an MA or PhD degree in Anthropology with Archaeology emphasis, have prepared a master’s thesis or doctoral dissertation, have at least 1 year field experience in Cultural Resources Management (CRM), supervisory experience running CRM field projects preferred, and experience in Western Washington and the Southern Cascades. The candidate must also have demonstrated skills using Arcview GIS to generate maps, as well as using Trimble GPS equipment and tablets in the field. Job duties include leading field projects, use of GPS and other data collection devices, conducting archival research, technical report writing, and artifact analysis. Experience with the Section 106 process is required. The successful candidate must have strong writing skills and be willing to travel throughout the Pacific Northwest (and, rarely, the rest of the U.S.) Candidates should assume that 50-60 percent of their time will be spent in the field, and at least 25 percent of that travel will be outside of Seattle.
