Applied EarthWorks, Inc. has an immediate opening for an Associate Historical Archaeologist. This is a regular, full-time position, preferably in our Hemet office. AE is a consulting firm specializing in cultural resources management (CRM), prehistoric and historical archaeology, and historic preservation. Duties:
The successful candidate will assist the Historical Archaeology Program Manager and other office managers in proposal preparation; development and implementation of research designs and treatment plans; supervising field and laboratory staff; technical report writing; and maintaining project schedules and budgets.
Required Skills:
Applicant should have experience directing investigations at historic period sites in urban environments, performing archival research, preparing technical reports, and have an interest in 19th and 20th century archaeological research issues and material culture. Experience in analysis of historical materials, and use of Harris Matrix recording system is desired. Qualifications in architectural history, Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification; and familiarity with California Environmental Quality Act a plus. Must have prior supervisory experience, a strong working knowledge of Federal regulations, and proven written and oral communication skills. Must demonstrate a strong work ethic, demonstrated reliability, good communication skills, and ability to manage multiple projects. This person will function as a leader and integral team member.
Education/Experience:
M.A. degree in history, historical archaeology, or related field required. Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA) certification preferred. Minimum of 4 years of field supervisory or management experience in CRM.
