JOB DESCRIPTION The Cultural Resources Crew Leader/Project Coordinator (Leader) serves as task and project lead for archaeological, ethnographic, and built environment investigations. The Leader implements methods set forth by the Principal Investigator, works under the direction of the Field Director, and supervises the work of crew members. The Leader ensures that their own work and the work of those they supervise meets current regulatory compliance requirements and professional technical and ethical standards. REQUIREMENTS General • Competency operating Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access • Competency using Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop Elements • Competency operating a Trimble Geo7x and associated Terrasync, and Pathfinder software • Competency completing all CA OHP DPR forms • Familiarity with Google Earth for research and map-production purposes • Strong organizational and communication skills Education • B.A. or equivalent in Anthropology , History , or closely related field. Experience • Competent in prehistoric archaeology, historical archaeology, and with built environment resources • Twenty-four months’ experience successfully completing cultural resources studies that include prehistoric archaeology, historical archaeology, and the built environment • Successful interaction with descendant community representatives, and/or heritage organizations, clients, property owners, agency officials, and the public • Successful completion of report sections • Applied understanding of the role of regulatory compliance in cultural resources management Skills • Communicates effectively verbally and in written format • Responds positively to direction, change in direction, and correction • Punctual and dependable • Adheres to safety protocol • Takes thorough, accurate, and legible notes • Demonstrates ability to accurately document data/artifact collection (i.e., provenience, and or site context) and site features • Demonstrates knowledge of site specific contexts • Conducts primary research, identification, documentation, and analysis of cultural resources • Completes complex tasks with little-to-no supervision • Assists in proposal tasks • Writes draft reports • Competently directs, coordinates, and supervises work of less experienced staff
