These are exciting times for our profession and the Society for Historical Archaeology is engaging in many new challenges and initiatives. The Society’s work is yielding great results on multiple fronts.

• Our public education and governmental outreach work combats ongoing attacks aimed at dismantling federal preservation laws and policies. SHA regularly advocates for the preservation of our cultural heritage and archaeological record.

• Our professional publications, workshops, and annual conferences advance standards of excellence within our field. We support the growth and development of historical archaeology around the world and promote its importance in understanding the past and present.

• Our diversity initiatives focus on expanding inclusion in our practice and profession. Our organization is dedicated to creating a more inclusive discipline and promoting the ethics of respect within the places where we live, learn, and work.

• SHA members mentor young scholars in their professional development. Contributions subsidize their participation in our annual conferences, prizes to recognize their achievements, and networking opportunities.
