URGENT – Call Your Congressional Representative Now To Support Funding for the African American Burial Grounds Program

Dear SHA Members,

The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote shortly (perhaps today) on the Department of Interior and Related Agencies Appropriations bill for FY 2025.  An amendment will be offered to the bill to support funding for the African American Burial Grounds Preservation Program that will aid preservation efforts across the country to research, identify, document, preserve, and interpret African American burial grounds.

Please call your Representative today and urge their support for this important amendment.  Not sure who your Representative is?  Search https://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative.

The SHA has worked for passage and implementation of the African American Burial Grounds Preservation Program for many years.  Your help now will help us cross the finish line on this effort.
