FAIR + CARE Survey
The Online Survey of Cultural Heritage Professionals is part of a 3-year project, Advancing FAIR+CARE Practices in Cultural Heritage, funded by an IMLS National Leadership Grant, that explores data practices in archaeology. The survey seeks to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in current digital data practices across multiple sectors (academic, CRM, museums, libraries, Tribal, Federal, State, and Local). The survey is specifically designed around the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) and CARE (Collective Benefit, Authority to Control, Responsibility, and Ethics) Principles.

The survey consists of approximately 50 questions and should take approximately 30 minutes to complete. The survey provides instructions and definitions in the preamble. If you have questions about a particular question or section, please feel free to contact the project directors (:imls-faircare-directors@opencontext.org). If questions do not apply to you or your organization, feel free to skip that item and continue on. You do not have to complete the survey in one sitting, but you must complete it within one week for the system to retain your draft responses. The survey will be open until May 31, 2024. Please feel free to share it with others!
Your input is extremely valuable for understanding current digital data practices across the discipline. The results of the survey will aid in crafting data governance models and assessment tools. Thank you so much for taking the time to provide thoughtful feedback.
