New SHA Special Publication, Baffle Marks and Pontil Scars: A Reader on Historic Bottle Identification is Now Available
SHA Special Publication #12, Baffle Marks and Pontil Scars: A Reader on Historic Bottle Identification, is now available for purchase/download from the SHA Bookstore on Lulu. These publications - several of them classics long out of print—provide a fundamental understanding of the technological evolution that allows accurate analysis of historic archaeological assemblages. Articles included come from trade publications, government reports, and newspaper accounts; topical studies by archaeologists; and some new articles intended to assist in laboratory analysis. The unifying thread in these selections is the attempt to give the reader a clearer picture of both the glass container industry and its processes that left physical traces through various ages on the surfaces of the bottles themselves.
