About the Role:
Weintraut & Associates, Inc., seeks a Principal Investigator in historic and/or precontact archaeology to join its cultural resource team of highly qualified professionals in the State of Indiana. The qualified candidate will have a Ph.D. and/or master’s degree in Archaeology or Anthropology, or associated field and must meet the Secretary of the Interior Standards (36 CFR 61) in archaeology, and the Indiana standards (citation). This is a field-and-office leadership role that will include conducting and supervising archeological investigations, client coordination, ensuring compliance with QA/QC standards, as well as authorship of reports and related documents. The successful applicant must be able to work in a team environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting and supervising archaeological fieldwork at all levels (Phase Ia, Ib, Ic, and Phase II testing and Phase III mitigation).
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and tribal regulations as well as Section 106 and NEPA regulations.
- Leading and managing field crews, lab technicians and technical writers.
- Preparation of work permits and archaeology reports.
- Quality Control on peer’s documents.
- Performing physically demanding tasks in adverse environmental conditions.
- Preparing technical analyses and field documentation.
- Mentoring staff and building strong relationships with clients, agencies and community.
