CATALOGUER
Richard Grubb and Associates is seeking a cataloguer to be based out of Cranbury, NJ.
Key responsibilities include:
- Archaeological analysis of historic and pre-Contact period artifacts
- Preparation of catalog appendices for cultural resource reports, forms, and other documents in compliance with contract requirements;
- Effective communication with Principal Investigators and laboratory directors
- Actively performing research via the latest articles, conferences, and workshops.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in anthropology or closely-related discipline with an emphasis in archaeology from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of one year prior experience cataloging historic/pre-Contact artifacts.
- Demonstrated experience in the timely completion of artifact catalogs, preferably within a CRM capacity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in anthropology or closely-related discipline with an emphasis in archaeology from an accredited institution.
- Prior archaeological experience in a CRM-related field
- Experience identifying 17th-20th century artifacts from the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions
- Knowledge of lithic material types, stone tool, and ceramic morphology from the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions
- Prior experience in artifact curation
- Working understanding of federal and state historic preservation laws including Section 106 requirements and processes
- Prior experience using ICMS collections database software
Other responsibilities may include artifact processing, assisting in proposal preparation as related to material culture, contributing to report preparation, research designs, treatment plans and other technical documents.
This is an hourly position full time position. Compensation is dependent upon qualifications.
