Description:

The Monticello Department of Archaeology seeks one qualified Archaeological Crew Chief for an eight-month appointment beginning April 4th. Benefits are included. Working five days a week and in close partnership with the Archaeological Field Research Manager, responsibilities include supervising Archaeological Field Technicians, deciphering, excavating, and recording stratified deposits. The Crew Chief will exhibit strong leadership skills, effectively lead crew members in the efficient completion of archaeological fieldwork, and contribute to reports, as needed. Prior training in an archaeological field school, additional supervisory experience with area excavation, and strong knowledge of eighteenth- and nineteenth-century artifacts are required. Work will include STP survey and stratigraphic excavations. Experience in interacting with the public is encouraged. This position will also help with Monticello\'s six-week field school. Position is open until filled. This appointment is renewable contingent on funding.
