General Information

Job Description

  • Teaching at all three levels in archaeology programs;   
  • Ability to teach in North American historical archaeology;   
  • Ability to train students in the field and in the laboratory as part of a training site; 
  • Research and publications in North American historical archaeology; 
  • Ability to manage the training site laboratory;
  • Working in an interdisciplinary context;
  • Participation in the functioning of the department, the faculty and the university;
  • Dissemination of knowledge outside of academia.

Selection Criteria

  • Doctorate in archaeology or other discipline corresponding to the job description;
  • Specialization in the study of material culture; 
  • File of publications in North American historical archaeology;   
  • Archaeological excavation experience; 
  • Assets will include: expertise in the historical archaeology of the northeastern United States, experience in supervising an excavation site, and teaching experience.  

Terms
Salary according to the collective agreement in force.

Candidacy

Application deadline: August 14, 2026
Start date: January 1, 2027

  • Three digitized publications or extracts of publications deemed significant;
  • Three letters of recommendation.

The selected candidates, after review of their application, will be interviewed by a selection committee between September 24 and October 8, 2026.
