View From the Outhouse: What We Can Learn from the Excavation of Privies
Authors: Kathleen Wheeler
Summary: This collection of papers comes from a 1996 Round-Table Discussion about privies, and, yes, we did sit around the table and talk about nightsoil and other meaty topics while we chowed down our lunch. The discussion was so FRUITFUL that most participants prepared a paper for the 1997 meeting of The Society for Historical Archaeology in Corpus Christi. Further revisions ensued, and we expanded our presentations into formal papers, the result of which is this volume.
