Description:

The Department of Anthropology at Indiana University Bloomington seeks to hire an archaeologist for a 1 year Visiting appointment for the 2020-2021 academic year. Specific rank (Visiting Assistant Professor/Visiting Lecturer) to be determined based on whether the PhD is in hand at time of appointment and subject to change with degree conferral. We are particularly interested in a scholar with a methodological focus in faunal analysis, historical archaeology, and/or underwater archaeology, but the culture area and time period are open. Expertise in zoo archaeology preferred.

The candidate will teach 4 courses (2 per semester), including a large introductory class “Humans and Animals”,” and electives. Large classes will be online; smaller classes might be in person. Draft syllabi are welcomed, but not required, with the application. Candidates with a Ph.D. in Anthropology or related fields in hand by the time of appointment are preferred, but ABDs will be considered.
