Archaeological Collections Supervisor

 The Wyoming Department of State Parks and Cultural Resources invites applications for the position of Archaeological Collections Supervisor. The position supervises the collections management section in the Office of Wyoming State Archaeologist, and is responsible for research, interpretation, public outreach and professional care of archaeological collections and records held at the University of Wyoming Archaeological Repository (UWAR) as specified in federal regulations (36CFR79), state law [36-4-106(d)(ii)], and relevant Memoranda of Understanding. The Archaeological Collections Supervisor seeks outside funding for improving repository services; coordinates and negotiates with archaeological entities who submit collections to the repository; reviews and critiques cataloging results submitted by professional archaeologists at all levels of expertise; designs, prepares and delivers collection exhibits and interpretive narratives for educational outreach statewide; manages collection loans to museums and outside researchers; and works toward preserving in perpetuity significant archaeological resources and information on behalf of the State of Wyoming. Familiarity with the archaeological record of the North American Plains, Rocky Mountains, Intermountain Basins or a combination thereof is expected. A successful Archaeological Collections Supervisor will have experience working with and managing archaeological collections; working with and coordinating a diverse range of agents including state and federal agencies, local communities, avocational archaeologists, and members of the interested public; and managing staff.
