FREE Section 106 Webinar Series for Beginners in May 2023
Students, interns, and early career professionals can take advantage of several opportunities for free training from the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) on Section 106 review during May and June. The ACHP issues the Section 106 regulations and provides oversight for the review process.
The ACHP will present three Section 106 webinars in May 2023. These one-hour webinars include opportunities for participants to interact with the content, instructors, and others in the Zoom meeting. All topics are geared for beginners in Section 106, including advanced undergraduates and graduate students as well as early career professionals in historic preservation, cultural resources management, and allied fields. Participants will receive an electronic certificate of completion. The series schedule:
• Thursday, May 4, 2023, at 11:00 am EDT, "What is Section 106? Questions and Answers;"
• Thursday, May 11, 2023, at 11:00 am EDT, "Defining the Area of Potential Effects in Section 106;" and
• Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 11:00 am EDT, "Planning to Involve the Public in Section 106."

The ACHP will also present two sessions of our popular “Section 106 Essentials,” an eight-hour classroom course for students and interns led by ACHP staff instructors. Students and interns may register for free. Full time federal employees are not eligible to register for these offerings (See https://achp.gov/training/classroom for other offerings of this course). Certificates of completion will also be issued for this course. The course schedule and registration links:
