Archaeological Field Technicians Needed (Temporary/On-call) – Southeastern U.S. – Oneida LG2.

Oneida LG2 is accepting resumes for multiple projects within the southeastern U.S.

Oneida LG2 is a tribally owned firm, owned by the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin. 

Location: FL, MS, LA, TX, GA

Project dates: August – ongoing through 2023

Temp Tech Rate: $18-$23ph 

Per Diem: ~$59 per workday - project dependent GSA rates

Field Work Schedules: Project dependent

6 days per week,

10 days on – 4 days off (required demobilization)

5 days on -2 days off.

Accommodation: Single occupancy room provided.

The Work: Phase I & II Surveys 

The position requires considerable physical exertion, and the applicant must be capable of hiking for long periods of time through challenging terrain in outdoor heat and cold conditions. They must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and excavate 20 STPs per day. They should have some experience in accurately recording field notes using both traditional and digital methods, recognizing historic and pre-contact artifacts, identifying above- and below-ground archaeological features, drawing sketch maps, and using GPS. Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment are important. Ability to use a compass for wayfinding and pacing to shovel test points are also a plus.

There are exceptional health and safety requirements for this project.

There will be a drug screening in the week immediately preceding start day and some projects require random drug screening for the duration of the project as required by the client’s health and safety protocols.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or a closely related field. Completion of an accredited field school and demonstrated past field experience are preferred.

Pay range for this project is $18-23 per hour and is based on applicant’s level of experience. Single occupancy accommodation and per diem are provided, as is daily transportation from the Hotel to project sites. Workdays are varied per project.
